Sony in-dash CD player question

So I was looking around at Best Buy yesterday because my dad mentioned that his CD player in his car doesn't work anymore. He has an ipod, and a few of the sony players I was looking at have an AUX input on the faceplate. My question is, can you plug the ipod directly in there and have the CD player play whatever the Ipod is outputting? I don't care about havign the text show up on the CD player.
