Sony giving other companies a bad name?

With this huge dell laptop battery recall (link to thread), and the huge CCD recall for digital cameras around a year ago, both being actual Sony components that were at fault, why doesn't Sony get any flack?

Yet still Sony products are expensive as hell, and they don't seem to be having the major recalls. It's almost as if they're making bad products for other companies but not themselves. I say Sony is to blame, don't blame DELL or Olympus or Panasonic or Nikon, etc.

There was a big Nikon battery recall as well, was that related to Sony BTW?
 
Is Sony's name on the batteries or is there a big sticker with Dell printed on it on the batteries? That probably has a lot to do with who receives the blame.
 
SONY was mentioned directly several times on the Today Show report this morning. They also said the same battery is used by Compaq, HP, and Gateway laptops.
 
Funny how in another thread someone brought up that their sony computer used a battery from someone other then sony. I guess sony does not trust their own stuff. 🙂
 
DuPont needs to abandon teflon and turn "Sony" into a coating for frying pans. Seriously, nothing sticks to them. They put malware on unsuspecting peoples' PCs and all people can talk about is the ps3 and how many they're going to buy. Wake up! By making the act of being scummy profitable, you're encouraging them to continue and others to emulate them.
 
The CCD recall applied directly to Sony digital cameras also.

But fvck Sony, my cybershot T-9's LCD cracked internally without being dropped or crushed, is an issue others online have posted about, yet they still won't warranty it for me.

Well, Dell had to approve the choice of the Sony product before it was installed on their products, so it is partly their fault also. It's not like: Oh look, we have some Sony batteries laying around, let's install those.

And it's not only Dell, I believe Sonys are just as bad, but not sold in as big numbers, so they don't get so many problems.

It's like: what's safer, Linux, of Windows? You also got to look at what has more exposure, and therefore more nitpicking.

That's how I see it.
 
sony is never getting my money again. they took a turn for the worse. Blu-Ray still sounds better, but i have my doubts. sony will eventually go bankrupt unless they change their tactics.
 
Because Dell is just as responsible as Sony for quality assurance on the batteries. From what I'm hearing, part of it has to do with the specific packaging designed for Dell's batteries.

Also keep in mind that out of every 2 million batteries, there will be at least one fire resulting from the battery, statistically speaking.

Actually, a lot of Sony Vaio's, HP's use Sony's batteries as well...

However, due to their charging mechanism, these laptops are able to prevent the battery from overheating thus they are not included in the recall...

So yes, the charging mechanism from Dell should shoulder just as much blame as Sony
