They are both 21" Trinitron monitors, and most of the specs look very close to me. Why is the the F520 so much more???

The CPD-G520 uses a 0.24 mm aperture grille pitch FD Trintron tube, while the GDM-F520 uses a 0.22 mm AG pitch FD Trintron tube.

Is the difference noticeable?

What is the advantage of having such a low grill pitch? Perhaps it improves text clarity? Anything else?

The difference in terms of text and graphic quality is noticeable, but I can't say for sure that it is just because the F520 has a tighter AG pitch. I think it has more to do with the fact that the construction of the F520 is of higer quality.

Well two other things are that the F520 has a Powered USB Hub built into the monitor and also has BNC inputs. I have a F520 and love it. Got it as a replacment to my 19" F400 that they stopped making and that i had constant problems with. I got this and have been loving it.

<EDIT> It also has a 3yr warranty compared to the 1yr on the G520.
