Sony G500 owners help me out

I just got my G500 yesterday and I am generally very happy with it. This is my 2nd 21" monitor purchase. My first is a Mits. Diamond Pro 1010e.

My problem with the new Sony is with the warmup time. When I first turn the monitor on it takes about 30 min for the screen to stretch back out to my preset size. For instance, when I first turn the monitor on,when it is cold, there is a 1/2 inch black bar on the left side of the screen and a 1/8" bar on the right, top, and bottom. If I make no adjustments after about 30 min the picture fills the screen as I had it set. My Mits. never did this. It was slightly off when cold but not 1/2" like the Sony. Is this normal for this monitor or did I get a bad one? Oh BTW I tried BNC and HD15. HD15 does not seem to be as bad.

Thanks

That's strange i didn't know Sony monitor exhibited that problem. My sony G400 doesn't need to warmup at all.

I don't have the G500, but I do know that my 17" E200 has a warmup time in the area of around 20-25 minutes. The screen will actually be skewed over to the left during that period, though after the time is up it's perfectly centered. My guess is that some Sony's just seem to take longer to warmup than others (even of the same model number).

Thanks for the replys. I ended up calling Sony tech support and a very nice guy told me that there was definately somthing wrong. He said that the picture may be slightly off before the monitor is warmed up but nothing like what I am describing. He told me to exchange it since it is only 2 days old but Outpost.com will not accept exchanges for any reason on Sony monitors. I ended up carting my brand new monitor to a service center for repairs. The worst thing about this whole experience has been Outpost.com. First they took 3 days (ordered on Mon. delivered on Thur.)to ship overnight. Then they sold me defective merchandise that they will not replace. Free overnight shipping sounds mighty tempting on a 21" monitor but beware of Outpost.

yeah the biggest attraction of outpost.com is their free overnight deliveries, but i think the reason why they don't accept exchanges with sony monitors is the infamous Sony G400 problem. Sony packages their monitors like crap and most of the time they end up being damaged during shipment. Most noticeably, this happened with the 19" Sony G400 which ALOT of people had to exchange MANY MANY MANY times with online retailers. Onvia.com seems to be the nicest and will actually exchange it many times, but i guess alot of companies are not like Onvia.com and will not exchange at all.
