Greets all.

Thinking of buying another digicam and would like to stick with Sony (I hear snickering....)

The F717 seems to be an overall good camera, and I can get it for about $450.

I have seen the F828 for about $600, and I know it has the following

8.0 mp
CF and microdrive compatible
30fps video

Does anyone know if the image quality is better/worse/same than the F717?

I have read reviews at 'dpreview' and 'stevesdigicams' but trying to find out that if the image quality is much worse than there would be no point.

I have the FD92 now, and it is good, but want to get my hands at a fairly inexpensive D-SLR camera and looking for any advice.

Please no flame wars... just trying to get opinion of people who know about this topic.

Thanks.

I'd get the F717.

The f828 uses the same exact sensor as the f717 so all the three additional MP just add is more noise.

And also, the chromatic abberation is very evident in the 828.

Neither of those are DSLRs.

Can't miss with the 717, but those are very good prices, either way.

yep, neither the 717 or 828 are DSLR cameras. i would get the 717, but BE SURE to check up on the store's feedback on www.resellerratings.com before you buy. there is no way that you will get a legit 828 for $600

If I were to take pics at about 5mp with the 828, would the extra noise be gone? I like the extra features of the 828, but everyone says that the f717 works great.

828, not even an option to get the 717. I've used both, love the 828, just gotta figure out all the new stuff. :D

If you shoot a lot of metalic things then don't get the F828.

If not get the F828. Lots of 'scare mongering' amongst the people on the net.

The F828 has a very sweet lense that would cost a lot of money to get the range and the speed of if you were to buy separately.

I say get that.
