Sony Exits U.S. Handheld Market

WOAH!!! Big news! I personally feel it was doomed to go with Palm OS in the first place. Not such a smart move.

I hate sony clies because of its slow memory sticks. it took forever to access files on the card so i ditched my clie.

They had some nice models recently, but, PalmOS is dying (at least when competing on a multimedia front).

They should have moved the Clie's to a PocketPC architecture when they were starting to add all those features.

Still, I'm glad they gave it a go.

Noooo!

I've owned several clies - the TG50 was great - Bluetooth Internet, Mini-keyboard, Clie Styling, Wired Remote.

I don't like PocketPCs for their bloat and interface. But Palm has some good PDAs too, so no worries. Clies were great while they lasted....

notebook > PDA.

Cheers!

The moment a notebook computer will allow me to access the Internet wirelessly (surf, check email, do AIM, ICQ, FTP'ing, remote desktop, and much more), provide Bluetooth GPS support (which I use in my car) along with mulitmedia support (MPEG, DIVX, & RealVideo playback, WMV, MP3 audio) along with the usual PIM duties ALL while fitting in my shirt pocket, then you may have a case. Until then...

YOU = OWNED!😛

Yep, big, slow, ugly, poor battery life, OS that crashed @ 20 minutes, and the only PDA I returned for my $ back...

When they support 1920x1200 resolution and can run real applications, then perhaps they may be worthwhile tools. Until then, they are toys and no more.

They are just not very practical especially in my business.

Cheers!

They're not meant to run EVERYTHING, but they're the BEST compromise for what size they are. You can't have EVERYTHING. You ask for too much in a package so small.
