when all your friends have a wii then you don't need to buy extra controllers, they just bring theirs over.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying here... do you think the Wii is overpriced, and that's why you're not going to buy it? Or are you just not into the new control scheme? I think it's hard to say that the Wii is overpriced for what you get, simply because the price of components can only go so low.

but i guess thats the american attitude now. affordable is directly related to how much something costs, not its actual value.

For many people the PS3 offers little in the way of actual value over the Xbox 360 and Wii. For many people the superior graphics aren't worth paying the extra money for. Most people don't even have an HDTV to take advantage of its capabilities. And all that extra money it costs doesn't make the games any more fun.

If you add up everything you get, a Lexus ES 300 could be a better value than my Honda Civic. But I don't need all of that extra stuff, I'm happy with everything my Civic came with - what's the point of paying more?
(I doubt an ES 300 is a better value than a Civic, but the analogy still works).

I'm wondering about aftermarket controllers... they're typically cheaper, but I wonder if they'll even exist for the Wii. Nintendo must have all kinds of patents. I guess they could license the technology to other companies.

Anyway, a Wii Remote + Nunchuk attachment costs all of $10 more than an Xbox 360 wireless controller, and I wouldn't be surprised if PS3 controllers cost $50 too. So it's not really fair to say you have to spend $180 extra to get a full set of controllers for the Wii, it's only $30 more than a full set for the competitors.

during the past gen of consoles, me and my friends all bought our own controllers for each respective console. it was awesome.

I think the PS3's price justifies what you're getting.

If you can't afford all the goods, then don't buy it, but don't bash them for trying to include a lot of things that would make the console better.

i have a 360 and i don't see the point of paying so much to buy the ps3 which preety much has the same games as the 360...but the wii i think is gonna be worth it..the wii looks like a whole new gaming experience

It blew my mind, because they're all Playstation fanboys in there. The employees were basically saying the same thing as you - they already had 360s, and PS3 will have a lot of the same games.

thats great i was a ps2 fanboy too so i don't hate the console but i just don't see the sense in getting th ps3 when i have the 360

The release games sure look the same.
And yes, many of the Wii games look like GC games.

I think the excitement will only increase once Wii is released.

I've already played Wii myself and it only confirms to me how much I want to buy it.

I'll take the innovation and gameplay over the graphics and flash of PS3 or even X360.

Lets do some math.

For Wii-

250 + 180=$430 for base system plus 3 extra controllers.
Then lets say you want 3 games to go with the new system. Lets assume games will be $50.

430 + 150= $580

Hmm so 3 controllers and 3 games and we still haven't quite reached the price of JUST a premium version of a PS3.

Lets do the same math for 3 extra PS3 controllers and 3 games with the system.

600 + 150 + 150= $900

Ouch.

At 50 dollars a pop you'd need to buy 6 more Wii games to reach $880 and then you can throw down 20 bucks to get Wii points and download some old games.

So in the end. You'd end up with a Wii with 4 controllers and 10 games(remember Wii sports is included) With the PS3 you'll get 4 controllers and 3 games.

That kinda math is why I'm guessing alot of parents will be going for a Wii for their kids and not a PS3(not even factoring in PS3 shortages and price gouging!)

This puts it all in perspective
