I don't think anyone is trying to say they lost the game, it's just bad wording. "Lost a future exclusive" == "Lost exclusivity to a future game." The latter is much more clear, but the former makes sense if you know what he's talking about, which we all do.
I'm one of those people who got the PS3 partially in anticipation of FF XIII. D'oh. At least the Blu-ray player still makes it worthwhile to have. I'm not sure which system I'll buy FF XIII for... I'm wondering how many discs it'll be on for the 360.
Easy choice is the PS3. What happens when your 360 RRoDs the day you get FFXIII for it?
😛 That's my reasoning for getting the PS3 version.
My 360 has RRoD'd twice so it isn't like I'm poking fun at it.
That was what I was implying - they lost exclusivity, not the game. Exclusive features/games are why you buy a particular console. Multi-platform releases are generally a wash.
And like I said, the PS3's best selling point (as a gaming device) has been the fact that it is reliable hardware. I think that was OK a few months into its release, but it's been 2 years now.
I seriously can't ration why someone would buy a PS3 now for a game with a "TBD - 2009" release date. MGS4 was a step in the right direction, and I'm sure June NPDs will reflect this, but even that was heavily delayed in the first place. If God of War or Gran Turismo come out before this time next year I will be amazed. But by then, the PS3 should be ~$300/350 or less, the XMB
should have the features I've come to expect from a "next-gen" console, and the whole Home integration should be complete.
Thing is, that's where Sony should be
today - 2 years after the console release.
So back to my original thought that they are consistently a year behind in games, price, and features.
