Sony DVD player DVPS-560 $250 at Costco. That is b4 Sony $50 MIR rebate. The price at BB & CC or GG is $300. If $50 MIR working for Costco the price will be $200.

I don't see a rebate for Sony DVD players on Sony's site. Anyone have the link?

$235 here, $185 after rebate. Sorry, didn't check on shipping costs so that may shoot it above $200. Still handy if there is no Costco in your area.

Only limitation seems to be that the retailer has to be an authorized Sony reseller. Anyone know if Costco is?

It's doubtful, but, you can call their Cust Service to find out. I purchased a NEW sony camcorder from Onsale Auction about 1yr ago and wanted to make sure the warranty would be valid. I called and they said it was. (This was before the onsale / egghead merger).

Anyway, had to get the camera serviced not long after due to a shipping defect in the product. No trouble from Sony.

dalfollo, we were talking about the 560 model, not the 360. The 560 retails for $399, and the 360 $299. Although the 20 free movies sweetens that deal considerably if there are no odd strings attached (didn't look it over yet).

ybs1...thanks for the correction...this is a hot deal!

www.onecall.com has that model for 299-10%=269 -50 rebate=219 -$20 free movies, with free S+H and not tax....$200 total

what are the main differences between the two...or rather why would i want the 560 instead of the 360. is it just the Vdeo enhansment features and the remote control? something else???

the '20 in dvd movies' should have read '$20 in DVD movies'

here is some info on a review i read with sear price matching suggestion to get it today:

What ultimately convinced me to purchase the S560D despite the fact that it was $50 more than the S360 boiled down to the Video Enhancement feature and the remote control. Having heard several grumblings that Sony's picture is "soft", I wanted to have the ability to sharpen things through the VE feature. The difference between remotes was that the volume buttons could only operate both a TV's volume and a receiver's volume on the S560 (thanks to the mode switch. On the S360 it looked like you could only do one or the other (TV volume or receiver volume). It didn't hurt that the S560D also sported more ways to tweak the audio output of the player.

So, decision on model in hand, I took some printed price quotes from the Internet with me to my local Sears store. I expected some haggling over S&H, so I had a copy of what S&H was on the lowest-priced model I could find ($228 + 28.95), and what Sears.com would have charged ($299 + 6.50). I suggested that the sales rep split the shipping difference with me, and he agreed ($228.00 + 15.00 = 243.00). Not too shabby!

Of course I had to pay sales tax on top of this (@$13.00), and I had decided to get a 2-year service contract through Sears ($37.00), based on how things had gone bad with my Panny. Everthing ended up totalling under $300, and that is still before the $50 rebate that Sony is offering on purchasers of the S360 and the S560D until 3/31/01. Thats why my price above is listed as $193 (includes the rebate I am sending for, does not include sales tax or maintenance agreement).

Try the 6th avenue in the last week i saw the same sony 560D dvd for 245$, When you buy it in costco the MIR rebate never works, and also the price of the dvd are cheap since they remove the coupans inside the dvd box (you can get two dvd titles from columbia House dvd Club and a free month of membership in blockbuster and a free month of member ship in columbia house dvd club), I bought one on the 6th avenue and returned it back a couple of weeks back and took one from Best buy i paid 275 + tax (there was a sale on macys for that price they price matched for me) and i also got two dvd titles from columbia house dvd club.
