Hyper Microsystems has the Sony DRU-510-WB (OEM) drive for only $249!
Pretty damn hot if you ask me, dual dvd format - 8mb buffer! Same as the retail box just none of the extra stuff.

Before anyone asks the retail Sony box only comes with a year warranty just like this unit.

I imagine someone could do a nice pricematch on this badboy to find us a better deal!

Gotta scroll down to where it says "Sony." Perhaps Edit > Find might make things easier. The eventual pricetag is around $257 (+ $8 shipping fee)

I noticed BCD2000 has the drive for $255 or $254.69 <to be exact> according to Pricegrabber results on a Sony DRU-510A.

I checked pricewatch, and ussa.com has the NEC ND-1300A (oem) for $200 + $4 shipping!
This NEC is the same as the DRU-510A and DRU-500AX. They don't have a good reseller rating (3.14), so YMMV.

What the hell are you talking about? They are NOT the same drive. HyperMicro is also a great place to order storage products from.

I do have to point out that this is actually a DW-U10A (look at the part # on the website). The drive looks different than the DRU-510A and according to Hyper Micro's website, it doesn't support 4x DVD+RW writing speeds. If you want that, you'll want the DW-U12A (or a retail 510A).

btw.. you can find the DW-U10A for cheaper. Just do a search on Pricewatch. Prices start at $219.

no they are not. not even close. and everybody sells the nec for around $200 or so.

I pricematched this drive from essential computers to Staples the other day for 289.00. After applying a $30 off of $150 and the $30 rebate my drive will end up costing $247. If you can successfully pricematch this price to Staples then this deal will be even hotter.

It might be difficult since this drive is OEM.

Nope, 510A is a different design. You can not flash a 500 (or this one) to a 510.
