Sony DRU-500A vs. DRU-500AX

What's the difference?

I have two boxes and one is A and one is AX. Which one should I use and which one should my wife get? :evil:

Just a firmware difference, AX has the 2.0e. The A probably has the 1.0f/g firmware w/c can be flashed to 2.0e.

Flashed my DRU-500A to 2.0e firmware.

The 500A already has 2.0e FW according to NERO. The date on the 500A is December 16 2002 and the 500AX is February 18 2003. Other than that, no known difference. I'll have to see how they handle some $0.78 per disk DVR-R media!

Hey Skorpio,
Did you have trouble flashing your DRU? I have a DRU and am thinking of flashing it, but the site required all this stuff that i had to do before flashing the BIOS. Is the BIOS update really that important? What does it improve, or fix for that matter?:brokenheart:

I have flashed mine twice and both times i did not uninstall or disable and of the crap they tell you to and my drive works fine.
