Okay, so I switch the usb port this printer is on and the stupid thing gives me an error when i try to print. so i uninstall/remove references of it in printers/uninstall the drivers/whatever i can find. last thing i can't remove is the port under print server ports.

i plug it in and i get usb printing support under device manager and i try to install the driver/software, gives me the unsigned driver i hit continue and setup gives an error and quits.. tried different ports and such to no avail.

if i try to manually add printer or update the usb printer driver in device manager both tell me i have no hardware for it.. POS.. this happened to me once before and i don't know how i got it working again, what kind of junk stops working if you switch which usb port its on.. what happened to UNIVERSAL

any help is appreciated..

This printer is a major pain in the ass I might add! Great pictures though... but still a pain in the ass to get working consistently.
Here's what I had to do several times when I received the errors you have described. Remove the printer using the "control manager's Add and remove programs". Go into the Device manager and make certain there are no pointer to the printer. Go into your HD and remove the directory where Windows installed the software. Disconnect the USB cable form your printer and restart windows. Go to the web and download the latest driver from Sony's site. It's a self executing driver program. After restarting your PC with all the Sony crap removed shut your PC down again and reconnect your PC and fire your PC up again. Hopefully windows will recognize your printer and you'll be happy again.
