How do you get the pics to this unit? Do you have to hook it up to your PC, or does it take memory cards? Memory Sticks?

I have no idea, I even want to know the pic quality (compare to the Kodak photo printer booth inside wallmart or walgreen)

the other cheap price can be found on cnet for 253
I guess if there are more alternative choices of paper or ink I will get one, hard to stick with just 1 kind of supplies.

Great printer. Some of the digital review web pages have said that with a megapixel camera and this printer you can't tell these photos from a good film print. But I'll wait until these things can do 8 x 10s, hopefully not too far off.

For those of us wanting 8x10 prints, check out the HP 1200 or 2200 inkjet. My friend just got one and DAMN it does good 8x10s from our 2.1 megapixel camera.

Take a look at the Olympus P-400. It's a dye sub printer that will do 7.64" x 10"
The beauty of dye sublimation is that it's a continuous tone print process and will give excellent photo output.

Olympus P-400

Too bad it costs $1000............ :(

Hehe...I just dump off my color prints on the 11x17 capable, 1200 DPI color laser at work...pretty quick and looks real nice. Maybe 15 seconds from when I tell it to print to printout complete. Oh yeah...since it's "laser", it doesn't smudge when wet. :)

Of course, my Epson Color Photo 900 at home is nice too....usually use it for webpages n' text.

I was very tempted to buy this yesterday, but as I researched this product, the main flaw is the availability of the neccessary supplies to run this printer. The print paper package (which includes the dye ribbon) appears very difficult to obtain. All sites I found that sell it list it as backordered and reading the reviews on CNET, reveals Sonys Web Site very rarely has it in stock. This may be one of those items where the supplies needed for the device are more difficult to find then the product itself.
