Speaking of memory. The memory stick format uses 10 sturdy connection points, like a PC card, not 50 fragile pins. You can read directly from the memory stick in the camera as quickly as from a card reader. Try that with CF!

How the heck do you bend a compactflash media pin? I've been using them for years, and have never had a problem. As have many friends & family members. And I'm sure that there are thousands of people here at AT that have no problem with that. I don't see many bent pins due to PCMCIA cards, and IIRC they use the same type of pins.

I have used both MS and CF in my DSC-F828, and have seen no noticeable difference between medias.

So, with zero chance of bent pins, I'd say that gives the memory stick the advantage.

I notice SD cards do it right. Same style as PC memory cards. The new SATA connectors avoid pins. Seems like the way to go.

I agree that no pins would generally be better than the possibility of bent pins. That said, if I find a really good deal on media, I'm going to go with whichever is least expensive. I got 4 GB of CF media a while back for $20... that's the main reason I used CF over MS in that camera.
