Sony DCRTRV730 Camcoder PC integration and general input

I am looking to buy a Sony DCRTRV730 Camcoder that has very good Digital 8 video and megapixel digital still capabilities.

I will be using a recently built AMD 1Ghz w/ 512MB and a Radeon 32MB DDR video card to work on the pictures and the occasion video stream.

Can I use this camera like my cheap webcam?

Any good/bad stories/reviews on it?

Suggested places to research the sony D8 cams?

Am I wasting my money?
