Sony DCR-HC36 MiniDV HandyCam Camcorder $320 at JandR.com

This is a pretty good camera. I bought one last April while on vacation and have recorded ~12 hours worth of home movies. However, I'm now getting an error message which indicates I need to re-insert the tape and no matter how many different tapes I insert...the error message pops up again. I looked around using google and it seems peeps are literally "banging the sides" of Sony video cameras to get the error code to stop popping up. The above problem appears to be related to mostly OTHER Sony cameras so I'm not sure if I just got a bad HC36 or what.

Thankfully I purchased an extended warranty with the camera so I can send it in for "real" service. Also, I'm one of those who NEVER get extended warranties on electronics...thankfully the wife talked me into this one😉.

Anyone buying this unit may consider buying an extended warranty.
