Sony CRX145E/XI Firewire and Windows ME

I have a Spressa CRX145E/XI External (iLINK) I am trying to get working on my Sony VAIO FX-220 running Windows ME. ME installs the iEEE 1394 driver for the device, but it is not working. Has anyone been able to get this burner working with Windows ME.
