This looks to be the same deal we've seen so many times; it's a $100 credit after you've made your first purchase.

If you already have the card, can you apply for another one for another $100 credit?

http://sonycard.sony.com/sonyg...y.asp?offerlink=1UP100

I tried searching the forums but could only find the $50 deal, so hopefully this isn't a repost.

They've had this deal for sometime now.

Over the summer it was 150. then it was lowered to 100.

its always been there they just don't advertise it on the main page of the sonystyle.com as much as they use to.

I read this carefully and it looks like to get the 100.00 credit you actually have to buy a PS3. Correct me if I am reading this wrong. If this is correct please reword the title of the thread.

The deal is legit, but I don't think its really worth it.

I tried it, and it didn't work. Spent 3 hours on the phone trying to see if anyone could help me use the temporary account number so I could buy a damn PS3. I got redirected about 10 times, and no one knew anything.

Apparently, no one could help me because the the people on the Sony Style Number could not do anything about the credit card as they did not handle it, they redirected me, and they said that they didn't support the visa, then they redirected me to chase who said that they didn'y have access to the Sony Style site so they couldn't help me... >>. I canceled my account and didn't use it.

If someone can figure out how to use the damn temporary account number, please post here or PM me.

maybe something screwy going on around this time of year with so many transactions left and right. you could've just waited for the card to come and make your purchase. I was in no rush to get the ps3 right away. Waited about 5 days and my card came and just walked into a sony style store and bought the ps3.

I got my 1 year no interest and and 100 dollar credit.

Thanks for the tip. Although I'm kinda holding out for a "free PS3 with Sony TV purchase" deal. We're soon in the market for one of their 52" LCD's. Would sure like to score a free PS3 with that. But this could be a good alternative....

The Sony website is also offering free shipping and a free controller with the purchase of any PS3. I signed up for the card yesterday with no problems. I added the 40GB PS3 and controller to my cart, and the total was $422.xx after tax. $322 after the $100 credit is a HOT deal!

Plus if you use your Sony card on the Sonystyle site (or retail store) you get 5x reward points. On a $2000 TV that's 10,000 points. You'd wind up with enough points for a free game and an additional controller.

Wow...cool, thanks guys for that info on the free PS3. I assume the TV must be purchased via Sonystyle.com, though? They're about $500 more on the 52" XBR4, so that kind of negates the savings. I'd live for either CC or BB to come out with this promo, or if I could use the Sony card to buy at the CC/BB discount and still get the free PS3.

FYI, I placed the order on sonystyle.com for a 40GB PS3 on 1/8/08, and just received it today via USPS (1/16/08). The $100 credit is already showed up on my Chase Sony account (from online), and everything is good to go! Thanks again Sony!

I did this deal -- it was quick and easy. Got the $100 credit for a PS3 for only $300 + tax (in TN). Shipping was free and quick.

I bought a PS3, a TV, games, and accessories through this deal.

Overall, mixed results. Sonystyle is probably the worst online retailer I've ever seen in my life. The shipping is slow, and my TV arrived very late in a box that was torn open. Two of my items still haven't shipped. I've contacted Sony by email asking them to change one item, but 3 days later no response to my email. And nobody picks up the phone when you call them. If you've got a Sony store within an hour's drive, you're probably better off going there.

Another question:

How much minimum payment did you guys have?

I spent $1500 at Sony Style. When I check my account balance at Chase.com, it's showing zero minimum payment. I'm surprised, because I assumed there would at least be some minimum due each month, even if it's interest free.

You can get the 40 GB PS3 for $279. An additional trick that someone over on Slickdeals showed me is known as the "Gold Box Trick". It gives you the PS3 for an additional $20 off.

1) Apply for the Sony Card

2) When you get it, go to Amazon.com and create a new account. You can use the same name. You just have to use a new email address.

3) Search for either the PS3 controller or COD4. Rate it and put a check in "I own it". It's right above the user reviews.

4) Click on "Today's Deals" at the top of the page.

5) The 40 GB PS3 is in there for $379. This worked for me twice. But, if you add it to your cart, you have to purchase within an hour. It won't work again unless you rate the other item.

With the $100 off, this lands you a PS3 for $279. Mine is almost on the way. Status is "shipping soon".

Those over on SD also confirmed that this is not exclusive to the PS3.

The link in the OP wouldn't work for me. I would get the Sony page and when I clicked the 'Apply Now' button I would get prompted for a popup. I allowed it and clicked again. It opened a blank page. Mavtech gave me the Slickdeals link he used and that allowed me to apply for the card. That link is here: http://www.sony.com/sonycard/ps3

I called Sony on this and they said that I wouldn't get the $100 credit unless it was order through SonyStyle. Sux0rs, I had it down to $423 w/ a controller ($323 after -$100).

Also sux0rs for me since the ps3's are back-ordered now, and they don't have the Spiderman 3 bundle and no more free controller...grrrr

I don't think that person knows what they are talking about. Numerous people on Slickdeals ordered from Target and Amazon and saw the $100 credit within 3-4 days. It says on the link above that you have to buy from any authorized reseller. Amazon is an authorized reseller. Some are even buying Amazon gift cards and getting their $100 back. Mine is on order and should ship today. I'll let you know whether or not I get my $100 credit.

Here's the thread on SD if you want to read more about it.

I just called again, gotta different rep and talked w/ a supervisor...both stated that the $100 credit wouldn't be awarded unless ordered thru sonystyle. They were on backorder which is why I was seeking other places, but now they said they'll be in stock on the 5th. So I might just wait to be safe...altho I won't get the Spiderman 3 combo..kinda sux0rs. =/

Not sure what they are talking about. Did you look at the link? It says "Apply now for the Sony Card, be instantly approved and receive a $100 card credit when you purchase a Playstation 3 system at any authorized retailer". Also, it is confirmed numerous times that it's any authorized reseller. Maybe they are referring to a different promotion.

Also, this one does have Spiderman 3 in the box.
