Those two gray lines are found on every Sony Trinitron monitor. What you have is an aperture grill monitor, and those wires are known as damper wires. The damper wires are used to stabilize the thin metal strips inside the monitor. Without them, those strips, unlike the metal sheet found in shadow-mask monitors, would vibrate. Of course, the Trintron tends to produce a brighter, less distorted image than shadow-mask monitors. Some people don't mind the faint lines, while others hate it; there really is no middle ground on the subject.I have a Diamondtron (practically same thing, just manufactured by Mitsubishi) and am not bothered in the least by those gray lines.
