I heard bad things about Sony Mp3 players.

What does this thing not recognize my .mp3 files?

Depends. Does the PSP play WMA's? It might be better to buy something can also play games.

The PSP can use a memory stick. You dont need sh1t to transfer music besides explorer. Maybe he shouldnt forget the PSP.

Why does Sony's file transfer program suck?
Does it convert the mp3s to their own format or something?

Yes. It doesn't support MP3s natively. It converts them to ATRAC before transferring them over.

Newer models (NW-HD3, NW-HD5) support native MP3 playback.

when this unit was first released it didn't support mp3s natively and they were converted to atrac. sony then decided to support and supposedly released an update to support mp3s witout converting/re-encoding.

Do you still have to use sonicstage, and does it still have rules about how many times you can transfer songs?
