Sony CD Car Stereo CDX1200

Free Installation Kit and Wiring Harness with Purchase!*
When you purchase this car stereo, our system will automatically select the appropriate installation kit and wiring harness for your vehicle and give you a $25 credit towards those parts.
*Credit up to $25.00. Some vehicles require parts that exceed this amount.

The CDX1200 CD receiver features Sony?s SSIR-EX? tuner, which employs advanced circuitry to ensure the best signal reception. You also get Best Tuning Memory (BTM), which selects radio stations by signal strength and assigns them to presets in numerical order according to their frequency value. Plus, 45-watts x 4-channel power output ensures easy integration with existing 4-speaker systems, and D-Bass makes any system sound better!

Main Features
45 Watts x 4 Channel Power Output is an amplifier capable of producing 180 watts of total output power, allowing you to drive up to 2 pair of speakers with ease.

Active Servo Control? a proprietary Sony technology for CD and MD players. This circuit monitors tracking and focus functions, among others, and actively adjusts those functions to compensate for real-time problems that may otherwise cause skipping or make a CD unplayable.

D-Bass? (Dynamic Bass) Sony's unique low frequency enhancement system which provides up to 15dB of gain to frequencies below 75Hz, without midrange coloration of interference.

SSIR-EX Tuner is an improved version of the original SSIR (Sony Super Interference Rejection) FM front end which offers better sensitivity, selectivity, capture ratio and stereo separation specifications.

Digital AM/FM Stereo Tuner processes FM and AM radio broadcasts digitally, locking in on the signal for less drift and reduced distortion. It also allows for simple storage of station frequencies in convenient presets.

Key Illumination refers to the back illumination for the buttons on the face of the head unit.

Single Preamp Output (1 pair) features one set of RCA-type jacks that allow you to use a standard RCA stereo patch cable to add an external 2-channel amplifier.

DIN Mount this unit conforms to the DIN standard, making it an easy fit in just about any modern automobile dashboard, greatly simplifying installation.

Audio Features
Single CD Random Track Play plays tracks on the disc in the unit in a random order.

Fader Control allows customized control between front and rear speakers.

PreAmp Fader Control provides signal level control between internal speaker level outputs and the line level outputs, allowing you precise control of a system mixing the internal amps and external amps.

8x Oversampling is a circuit that combines excellent phase linearity with superb suppression of digital noise, resulting in better and more natural sound and imaging.

1-Bit Digital-to-Analog Converter error free single bit Digital-to-Analog conversion significantly improves small signal linearity to provide pure reproduction of the original sound recorded on a compact disc.

Connections
Line Output Terminals provide additional flexibility in creating a high-quality mobile audio system by allowing connection to outboard amplifiers and signal processors with a line-level, un-amplified signal. The result is wider frequency response, wider dynamic range, and reduced noise.

Preamp Outputs 1 Pair

Additional Features
Volume Attenuator instantly mutes the volume at the touch of a button, then restores the original level with another touch. A great convenience when pulling up to the drive-through, or when your cell phone rings.

Shuffle Play allows the player to select tracks for playback entirely at random, adding a bit of variety to your listening.

Yeah this price is pretty nice.. there's also an Audiovox CD stereo for $99 with detachable faceplate. I know it doesn't have the same name as a Sony does, but it is pretty cheap. Do they usually have deals like this at 800.com for CD stereos? Not sure if I have the money for a stereo right now.. (grumble too many hot deals.. too much spent at Staples/OD/etc).. hehe

I have this stereo in my Caravan. I paired it up with the Sony 10 disc CD changer. What's cool is it can tell me the titles of the songs on the display (if the CD is encoded). Good buy.

Yeah, audiovox isn't the greatest brand and Sony has a much better rep. I do wish this Sony had a detachable faceplate though.. but I guess it is inexpensive compared to a lot of other CD stereos out there... maybe the car thieves will know that before breaking into my car. :)

Anyone know of a good site that gives instruction on how to install something like this, along with an external amp, crossover and a couple subs?

I have an unused Punch 45 amd and Alpine crossover. What I want to do is intall a new deck in my Pontiac Grand Prix, install a sub inclosue, and replace original speakers with some decent 6x9's. Can you buy car specific mounting kits for a deck somewhere on the web? Also, is there a readme somewhere on how to setup the crossover and a readme for how big your sub box needs to be for different subs?

From looking at previous catalogs, I always thought Crutchfield had pretty good support for car installations. I recall that 800.com said on its webpage it would give you $25 credit towards the proper installation kit.. but I have no clue how much documentation is included or not.

It's not very hard to install a car stereo (depending on the car of course). In most cars, all you have to do is remove a small part of the dash (only a few screws, if any), unscrew the radio, cut the wires, hook up the wiring harness, put in the new deck, put the dash back on, and BAM! DONE! Now of course there are cars that are a lot harder than this, but most aren't (at least the ones I've worked with). If you can put together a computer you can easily put in a car stereo.

Anyone know what the "free install kit" consist of? I have a Grand Prix, and at the least, I will need a new face plate to go around the radio. Hopefully the install kit is more than just the wiring harness and a peice of uncut lexan...

credulus,

yea, headunits shouldn't be very difficult, but installation is free at frys anyhow. The problems are amps and subs, i have no %#@ idea how to install those. I might need to add a sub to my car:( my 4 way amp is to be installed tommorow, the guy said it would take 2 hours..jeez that must be a lot of work.

Fritzo,
U said you had this installed in your caravan. I know for a fact that it has Double DIN. Did u use the car kit that came with it? Does it look good? I want to install also a cd player in our Grand Caravan. IF this works perfectly, I might get one also. But i need your feedback first, or to anyone out there who install a std. size player to double DIN. TIA!!!
