At the risk of loosing this in the other Sony thread, I figured I'd throw it up here on it's own..

PhotoClubAlpha Reivew of Sony A350

Yes, this site focuses on the Sony and Minolta cameras... So, naturally, they will be looking at things with a different perspective. Biased? Probably... However, a lot of information in the DPReview article about the A350 was a bit biased, and marginally accurate at times... So it's only fair to share a few opinions about something that is out there..

You'll notice the linked review is not all roses... Faults are recognized, as well as some pros.... There is also a lot of history between the reviewer and DPReview, with him being banned for some strong criticism of the DPReview article... But that's another subject...

Anyway, if you have any interest in these types of cameras (live view, low-midrange dslrs) it's worth a read...

IIRC David wasn't "banned" according to DPReview, though there was an issue resulting from his use of DPReview to advertise his own site. Unless something new happened with David and DPReview in the last couple of months.

The other day he was banned for a week for leveling a sarcastic and strongly worded critique of the A350 review (particularly the use of the word "slovenly" to describe the A350's fps in LV mode and the use of "very poor" to describe the battery life when using LV 100%). Numerous members of the Sony DSLR forum have decided to boycott DPR over the capricious banning, myself among them, so I don't know if anyone from DPR has reacted to the event publicly. I'm finding other sources of photography information and have discovered and rediscovered sites while looking around. :)

David has a post about it on his site and also mentions that someone hacked his site and deleted content (his initial reaction to/report on the dust-up) after his comments on DPR.

Yah, it's kinda like a soap opera with all that, but at least it seems to be encouraging people to read other sources for their camera info... The story still has legs, as other people have picked up trying to rip apart that review, specifically the use of lenses and shooting modes for comparison shots.... "Gee, I don't know why my underexposed 1/10 to 1/15s shots aren't very sharp, and seem noisy when I look at the shadows"....

Anyway, it's entertaining at least... I thought I'd at least let people know there are some other opinions and reviews available out there. Good or bad, biased or not...
