Sony a230 lens options

Looking for a lens; for our new(used) a230. It came with the 18-55mm lens that Sony included. Now looking for something with more reach. ??-?200?mm. I see on ebay and the likes that there are options from $50 to $1,000 or more. So lets say I had $50-$150 what are my options? What will I get, as far as image quality? Anything else, I should be asking?
 
Get the "beer can" - Minolta 70-210mm f/4

Also, get a cheap prime, the "thrifty fifty" - Minolta 50mm f/1.7 🙂

Got both of those, well the 50mm is on its way. The "beer can" I received today! Oh my, I have never seen a point and shoot do all that. So far so great! I say.

Now what flash?????!!!!??? Another problem is I have deep set eyes in my face, and worse I wear glasses. So getting my eye close to the view finder is impossible!!! What can I do about that? If anything. Ya ya, get a camera with live view right.....not in the cards or the wallet.

Come on alpha mount users come forth and be heard.
 
Haha, I bet you could tell immediately the difference between that Tokina and the "beer can" 😀
