that's MB, as in megabyte. that's about the actual throughput of USB 2.0.

YMMV, but my local BestBuy (Huntsville, Alabama) has the Matsunichi mobiledrive MD-6G 6GB drive on closeout for $60. They also have the 4GB model MD-4G on closeout for $50. I picked up the 6BG model a few days ago and it seems to be pretty nice.
