Sony 4x6 photo dye-sub printer - $99.90 @ fry's - YMMV

Costco in Concord CA can print 4x6 digital pictures for 14cents.

Unless the ink and the paper becomes more competitive, I see no reason to switch to a home printing system.

Yeah, 14cents is a bargain.... BUT, not having to deal with Costo and parking during peak times is a bonus.

Just got a Canon i850 and printing costs about 50 cents a 8x10 photo. My costco charges $2 and .19 for each 4x6. This maybe a better option than even this Sony.

ahh.. but this works without a printer.. great for my wife! she can use the screen to choose her pictures to print.

and remember that this is a dye-sublimation printer.. i think better resolution than inkjets and also puts a laminate coating... she's been trying to scrapbook with the hp inkjets and the black ink really sticks to glass and plastic covers.

This is a great printer, my father inlaw uses it for his picture business and I like the quality better than his $400 Epson or $300 Canon Inkjet printers he has.

Yea- the quality of a dye-sub printer is as good as 35mm prints . . . much better than any inkjet . . .

but it's the cost-per-print that prevents dye-sub from being economically feasible

Just checked fry's in sac, there appears to be 1 printer left, but the box looks a little roughed up and it has that "open box" sticker on it. Hot deal if you like to print photos on the go.
