I've been seeing this priced at $300 from bestbuy recently, and am curious if it would make a good 24" 3d monitor. Seems like it has hdmi ports and is supposedly a VA panel (MVA?), but more importantly it is able to do 3d and support the refresh rate for that.
Anyone tried this as a monitor yet? It's hard to tell if it's any good at the store since it really just show cases the split view tech which I will probably never use it for. Ultimately I just want to use it mainly as a monitor with the a 3d movie or game just to test out the technology.

I think you're in the position that a new GPU > 3D monitor.

Your framerates would blow if you tried to play anything in 3D.

Note that it's a 3D TV, not a 3D monitor. The difference being that it can't accept and display 1080P at 120Hz. It's meant to be matched with the PS3, which does games at 720P at 120Hz, and does movies at 1080P at 48Hz. Any current monitor that only accepts HDMI cannot accept 1080P at 120Hz.

Well there goes that idea. Luckily there are some real 3d monitors at this price point though I believe they are still all TN.

There are some decent LED-based TN displays for 3D. However, I'm sure I read of an IPS-based one, or some alternative, the other day on the Anandtech forums (perhaps somewhere else, or a strike of my imagination)... hmmh... I wish I could remember what I read.

If I do, I'll come back to this thread and let you know. ;)
