Sony 27" OLED

I've been waiting for a long time to upgrade my 19" CRT.

I personally think a lot of people are in the same boat as me. Hard core gamers that realize that playing at 160hz & 160 FPS with 0ms response time produces the smoothest game play.

Yes, LCDs are crisper. They are nicer with static images... and lemme tell you, 19" is getting small (especially when I work with 22" screens)

So I want to buy the Sony 27" OLED. (Or if another company comes and beats them to the punch, then all the better!)

When is it scheduled to come out ?

We know the 11" OLED is out, and selling for 2499$ (ridiculous, we know). I'm thinking the 27" will have a price point of 3999$ when it comes out.

What do you think of this guess, is this plausible?

I think a 27 will come out by the end of the year, but it will be closer to 8k than 4k.

Then 6 months later, it will be half that price. Then probably the same 6 more months later. Just look at how cheap LCD's are now.


Have you seen the 11 inch oled in person? Freaking ridiculous.. so crisp and such better contrast.. although maybe it being so small helps.

I thought it was supposed to be available by end of next year, and I think philips? is planning mass production of OLED screens by 2010 or 2011. Hell, I don't remember, there's a bunch of news here

End of 2008 ? That's something I can wait...
Maybe I just need more money.

I think I will just pick up another KDS-55A3000 and sit it on my desk. Its only $1200. Screw $4000 for 27"
