Sony CPD-G500

cheapest I can find is Onvia, which sells for $999 shipped, but it has not been in stock for week...

this one you can get for about $750 shipped...

visit the poll and tell me what you think, the poll icon is next to the private message icon and looks like a statistic icon...

I don't know what this poll crap is that you speak of, but this monitor looks like one of the best deals I have seen in a long time. These will be snapped up real quick. Hope you got yours.

I've had this monitor for about 6 months (got it refurbished from onsale.com for about $600). I love it.

Looking over their site, it appears that they do not have a large amount of stuff that they are selling. That makes me a bit suspicious of the deal...However, if you can check them out to your satisfaction, what a deal!

called them up to verify price(don't flame me! because $750 is a large chunk of moola!)

yes! it's 699, but they stand firm on the return policy...service reps is polite all the way though...

oh, and this is an oem box...not retail...whatever that means...

I don't think it matters if it's oem or retail for a monitor does it?

Before you plunk down your 7 bills you may want to call and ask them verfiy that they are authorized SONY dealers. If not you have zero warranty. THis happened to me last year when I bought a 17" Trin SONY and it bit the dust after 5 months.

No presence on resellerratings

Many times the issue comes up about whether or not Sony requires an "authorized" vendor to sell their goods. AFAIK, the only time Sony requires a vendor be authorized is on their ES line of home theater equipment.
All other products should have a warranty regardless of who sells it.

WIth SONY monitors I have found this not to be the case. SONY cares a great deal about it. They treat OEM grey market distributors the same way they treat e.bay folks. You are the 2nd buyer. Warranty does not run with the product. Many HD manufacturers do not work this way, IBM for instance lets you return damn near anything anytime. If you are buying this monitor, call or email SONY and ask them if you will have a 3year warranty. Last year I bought the aforementioned 17" from a clown who said he was authorized. He wasn't, I lost the monitor after a big fight with SONY.

If they are selling this as a retail monitor, as it seems they are, it is clearly false advertising.

dl: I'm just kidding... I don't know of any online retailer who has it in stock. (So I'd be surprised to see if they had it!)

Man, if this was from a reputable dealer I would be all over this...

BTW, the poll thing is pretty sweet because you can gauge peoples feelings on an idea without them all having to post "me too." (Of course this post isn't much more constructive than a "me too" :))

guys, I gave up on this deal after talking to the service rep for 3 times...after the 3rd time, I realized that it would not be worth the possible risk of losing $750 to save $250...so...forget it....plus they're already out of stock anyways...

I am dying to know if these people are legit or not?

Anyone here from Houston, Texas who has a digital camera preferrably?

Can you visit the place and see if it looks legit?

Remember how Lex Luthor was nice enough to go to the Shopss site and take three pictures during the whole Shopss saga (which I suspect is still going on for some of you)?
