they have %15 off storage stuff and the %10 of you can find out about thats stackable at your favorite bargins website. Along with a $50 rebate.

$498.98 -$74.85(%15) - $42.41(%10) - $50(rebate) = $331.72

The charges me tax in NJ.

DVD+RW isn't very good IMHO, they don't work in very many set top boxes, plus they're expensive. If you notice it DOESN'T do DVD+R the write-once equivalent, though they say there might be a firmware upgrade. Until I know for sure i'd hold back or get a DVD-R drive.

I don't agree (entirely). Technically, DVD+RW looks like it's the standard that will win out in the future, and DVD+R should have all the compatibility benefits of DVD-R. It's the +RW that's causing the problems. Of course, we won't find out until the +R burners are available in April. But it has nearly instant finalization, the ability to start/stop the laser at any time ("lossless linking", like BurnProof(tm) but also useful for rewriting individual blocks on a +RW disk.

I bought a HP DVD100i DVD+RW burner at the end of December, but HP backpedaled on an earlier promise to provide +R compatibility with a firmware upgrade. Now they are saying, "wait for the DVD200i" and users are talking class-action suit. I hadn't opened mine so I returned it.

I have seen +RW media as cheap as $8/blank which is dramatically less than $15/blank I was seeing in December. I think eventually +RW will be *the* standard *if* +R solves the compatibility problems. But until then, I'd avoid this drive unless +RW is all you want to do. Besides, in a month when the +R burners come out, these might be $200.

can't see how you can get that price.. the only extra discount I see on my favorite deal site, is a 10% stackable coupon, but it is for small business.. you can use it, ie.. claim to be a small business, and buy it.. but then they charge you sales tax... ok.. you still end up saving, if your sales tax is lower then 10%.. is there a stackable coupon or discount that you can use where you will not get charged sales tax???

haha im just joking, personally i went with the pioneer a03, its a 3rd generation drive vs. 1st gen dvd+rw drives. plus I make video discs, and need the compatibility.

if dvd+r works just as good, then it sound better since the burn time can get alot faster easier I believe.

not like 30 mins a disc now isn't bad, it already costs more than I make an hour hehehe.

I would probably have to say hold off and see what the dvd+r drives are like, I personaly wouldn't get a dvd+rw only drive (and rumors as to upgrading them to +r are very shoddy).

either way its still pimp.
