Sony 18.1" LCD panel - Single or Dual Link DVI cable?

I?m looking at getting the Sony SDM-M81 18.1" LCD flat panel monitor. For some reason it only comes with an analog DVI-I cable, so I need to buy a digital DVI cable to use with the GF3 Ti 200 card. Pacific Cable sells DVI cables online, but I?m not sure if I should get the Single Link or Dual Link DVI-D cable. Can anyone help?

P.S. I saw the Sony at CompUSA and it looked incredible (and probably wasn?t even using the digital input). I can?t find any other B&Ms that carry 18" LCDs to look at. Anyone have any comments on the Sony vs. the ViewSonic VG181 or any others?

Got the same monitor myself, and I'm loving it. Funny thing, I just ordered a set of cables from Pacific Cable, too. 🙂

I not only remember reading that the M81 takes a DVI-I<->DVI-I single link, but it makes sense. The only thing a dual-link allows is resolutions higher than 1600x1200 (all the way up to 2048x1536, as a matter of fact). Since our monitors won't go past 1280x1024, single link should do just fine.

Hope you like your DVI cable. I sure hope I do too.

Thanks for the info, I'm off to place my order right now. Let me know what you think when yours arrives! 🙂
