Right now there are only a few notebooks that use SATA, in fact I only know of one specifically.

In all reality, there is no point to "wait" for SATA HDD's in laptops. The speed difference is negligible and the cabling difference won't matter since the cable is so short it really can't impede airflow much. One systems are able to truly make use of SATA's bandwidth and NCQ, then you will see SATA hard drives pop up. With the first 2.5" SATA hard drives being announced in January, prices on them are going to be too high for manufacturers to really want to offer for the time being.

Right now I haven't heard of any plans for Western Digital to offer high capacity 7200RPM drives, but I wouldn't expect them to be far behind the game.
