I have a Cybershot DSC-v80 (I think) and it's kinda acting weird. I know it has internal memory of ~32MB, and that it should recognize the external memory when inserted. It works fine for a period of time until one day I left the memory stick out of the camera and shot with the internal memory. Since that day onward, it will not recognize the external memory doesn't matter what I do.

I've tried resetting all settings to factory, left the battery out for a day, went to the memory config page and the external memory doesn't show up. I have no idea what's wrong with it, and there are no mentioning of choosing which memory to shoot with in the manual. The memory stick works fine, and it's recognized in every other devices that can use it.

Cliffs: Camera not recognizing memory stick, (stick works fine), only shooting using internal memory.

Is it a DSC-W80?

The camera's manual says that the camera will automatically use a memory stick if there is one inserted in the camera. Take the battery and memory stick out of the camera and carefully clean the slot for the memory stick to make sure there isn't any dust or other obstruction in the slot. Replace the battery and the memory stick (make sure the gold contacts on the memory card are facing towards the LCD on the camera) and try again.

The camera does not see the card :(. One thing I haven't tried is to reformat it outside and stick the card back in to see if that works.
