Which do you guys prefer. Right now, i like Sonique better cuz its output is better than winamp, and its skins are way cooler. Apparantly winamp can sound a lot better with some codecs and stuff, but i haven't tried anything. Winamp, however, is easier to use and uses less system resources. Which program do you guys prefer?
 
I've used both, and I'd say winamp. Sonique is a phat player, but Winamp really whips the lammas ass, as you will find out when you download it.
 
I love winamp output addons. I use one that mixes songs together on my playlist and matches the beats of the incoming and outgoing songs perfectly, with no mistakes. I love to just set winamp on suffle and let her roll..
 
I tried Sonique and found that other than you could do some wild stuff with skins (non-rectangular!) it was a toy. PLUS, that fooking POS seized the file associations for MP3 and CDA and wouldn't let go!:| I had to dig into the Registry to exorcize it. Booooo. FOUR THUMBS DOWN!!!
 
I'm torn.

Winamp's ease of use is marvelous. Playlist support is generally better, and it's a lot easier to get to whatever song I want.

Sonique sounds much better. However, I do not like things that hang out in my taskbar without my permission. There's no checkbox to disable it.. Even Real Player lets you do that. And it's SLUGGISH at changing songs and jumping to a part of a song. I have a 600mhz PC and it's still a second delay. Winamp was instantaneous. And for whatever reason, Sonique does not play when you preview the file in Napster. Winamp had no problem.

I'll probably switch back to Winamp, but I have to ditch the Nitrane decoder before I do so.

I liked Sonique for a while, but damn, sometimes I just want to listen to some music and it makes it a pain
 
I can feel the flames already, but...

MusicMatch Jukebox. I find its library management SO much easier to use. I use it at work, so the sound quality is fine for me.

I think Winamp is the ULTIMATE !
you have DFX for winamp which makes it sound like a Home Theatre
The best plugin you can ever afford to get.
And also because Soniques quickstart and all that stuff hangs a lot
i prefer Winamp
 
Winamp with the mpg123 decoder here. I used to use Sonique, but it was too much of a resource hog. With Winamp/mpg123 I get optimal quality with CPU usage that's just a slight shade over that piece of garbage they call Nitrane.
 
I just use both of them. So if I ever get sick of one I'll go to the other one for a while and then keeping it changing. No more decisions in that area for me.
