sonicare diyers...battery replacement?

so my sonicare battery died. its been 2 years... but to make it non replaceable kidna sucks =(. esp since they only use nicd batteries. has anyone pried open their toothbrush and replaced the battery themselves?
 
Whoa, I did not think they could die. I have had mine for 6 years now.

Only thing I noticed is that it doesn't hold a charge as long, but it still runs like new every morning when I pick it from the dock.
