Sonic 4 rolls out today

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is out today. Not sure how many care but its looking like a solid game. Finally some real fan service to the old Sonic Genesis/Mega Drive crowd.

Its available on iOS today, October 7 for $10. Sadly no high def iPad version.

Will be out on October 11, 12, and 13 on Wii, PSN, and XBLA respectively.
 
Yeah, Xbox LIVE is also getting Dead Space Ignition and Pinball FX 2 (free but pay for tables) on the 13.

PSN is also getting Dead Space Ignition on the 12.
 
May look into this...my wife doesn't really like the games I have for 360 or PS3. Maybe this will hold her over until we get a Wii...
 
Bought it. Definitely an improvement, even over the DS Sonic games. It's not perfect though. Jumping seems to lack the fluidity of the Genesis games and the homing attack leaves a lot to be desired. But that's mostly nitpicking.

I read some of the iphone comments and the major complaint seemed to be how Sonic jumps wasn't like the Genesis games. I guess they weren't lying! 🙂

He looses momentum very quickly in a jump, which can make percision platforming difficult. It's a bit of a learning curve. I'm not sure why DIMPS did that since Sonic Advance isn't like that.
 
I gave the demo a try tonight, and the movement really does feel awful... Sonic actually walks when you start moving rather than just going "way past cool." For them pushing it as the first real Sonic game in 12 years!... they kind of screwed the pooch.
 
Tried the demo as well and was underwhelmed. The jumping, while irritating, would just take some getting used to, but the overall feel of the game just wasn't Sonic to me. Hard to explain I guess...
 
Last minute heads up, Sonic 4 is currently down to 800MS points today. I had to buy it when I saw it at that price. Definitely different than the Genesis Sonic games, but still pretty good.
