Sonic 4 Announced

Wow, that only took what, 16 years. Sonic is going back to his 2D roots. I'm cautiously optimistic since I was a huge fan of the 2D sonic games. By the looks of the trailer, it will be in a 2.5D format sort of similar to games like LittleBigPlanet and Sonic Rivals. Furthermore, it will be episodic. I remember hearing though that each episode will be a full game (I'm guessing six zones with at least two acts each). Coming out on XBL and PSN in the summer.

I like the idea of the whole retro "new." Hopefully even more companies take this approach besides just Capcom and Sega.

Sonic & Knuckles is technically a stand alone expansion for Sonic 3. They were always one game but the Sonic Team was stuck with time and space constraints.

This is what Sonic needs because the franchise hasn't done much of anything well since Sonic Adventure. Sonic Unleashed came the closest to providing a good Sonic experience but the Werehog segments nearly ruined it.

I'm probably the only person who liked Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood on the DS. Bioware Sonic-themed RPG that plays like Mario & Luigi/Paper Mario? Yes, please.

I would love another Sonic Adventure, but I've seen enough bad Sonic 3D to stay away from it. Hopefully, this is just what Sonic Team needs to get their shit together; going back to their roots might make them see the folly of their ways.
