Songs to fall asleep to

Hey guys, I always seem to need music playing when I fall asleep, I was wondering if you folks have any suggestions. I'd love to make a mix of songs either having to do with sleep or that are veeeeery soothing. Here's my ideas so far, subject to change:

Sleep - Phish
The Inlaw Josie Wales (soooothing) - Phish
Lullabye - Ben Folds Five
Wild World - Cat Stevens
When I Fall (soothing) - Barenaked Ladies

Nothing extremely wussified, but not hardcore, you can see what I'm after. Suggestions?

<< anything by ENYA... >>

Added Only Time and Caribbean Blue.....

Also Grace Is Gone - Dave Matthews Band

keep them coming!

Edit: Anything I have mentioned that you do not feel should go on my mix, feel free to comment!

i usually put on a little Beethoven or Mozart...very relaxing. but if you are looking more for "popular" music, try Blur - Tender
The Fly's - Got you where i want you
any Dynamite Hack song 😀
can't think of anymore off the top of my head

I used to fall asleep to Aphex Twin's Melodies From Mars and DJ Spooky's Songs of a Dead Dreamer almost every night. Phish was always good too.

Enter Sandman - Metallica

<< Planet Caravan -black sabath or Pantera >>

Did I mention I am not a metal fan? I don't know if that's exactly the genre to describe them...but still...

On the "anything by" line... you can try Sade.
Or Kenny G if you doing wanna hurl whenever you listent to him. :disgust:

Trust me on this one, you will thank me later! These are all good and relaxing songs:

Brian Eno: Under Stars
Brian Eno: Under Stars II
Brian Eno: Silver Morning
Brian Eno: Weightless
Brian Eno: Music for the Airports 1
Brian Eno: Music for the Airports 2
Brian Eno: Music for the Airports 3
Brian Eno: Music for the Airports 4
Brian Eno: Stars
Brian Eno: The Milky Way
Brian Eno: Faraway Suns
Brian Eno: Deep Blue Day

Go get them now!

Another excellent one is:

Toto: Prophecy Theme (from the Dune soundtrack)

<< The entire album "The Songs of Distant Earth" by Mike Oldfield. >>

I love that album 🙂. Mike Oldfield makes AWESOME music!

LoL, Toto......but seriously I'm going to look these up tonight...

Sarah Brightman
Cat Stevens
Ben Harper

Any particular Ben Harper? A lot of his stuff that I have is upbeat....and the slow one (Another Lonely Day) is just too depressing.

I'm not actually 100% sure that is it Toto. It might be Brian Eno. Anyway, it's VERY soothing song! Ethereal

EDIT: Checked. IMDB gives it's author as Brian Eno

Other good songs from the Dune soundtrack:

Take my Hand
Final Dream
Paul Meets Chani

Other good songs:

Vangelis: Intergalactic Radio Station
Vangelis: Into Eternity
Vangelis: One More kiss, Dear (Bladerunner soundtrack)
Vangelis: Memories of Green (Bladerunner)
Vangelis: Wait for me
Vangelis: Losing Sleep
Vangelis: Elsewhere

Vivaldi: 4 seasons: Spring

Sarah Brightman: Tu quires Volver
Sarah Brightman: The music of the Night
Sarah Brightman: This Love

EDIT: Even more 😉

Julee Cruise: The World Spins
Julee Cruise: Summer kisses, Winter tears
Julee Cruise: Rockin' back inside my heart
Julee Cruise: I float alone

But, even with all those songs, I still rank Brian Eno as best in this particular category 🙂. In fact, I just checked a bit of Brian Eno's biography... He's the guy who coined the term "Ambient music"!

No doubt! Add to the list "Tubular Bells" Side 1 is one of my favorite pieces of music (that's track one for you non-vinyl young-uns)

Here is what I listen to when falling asleep to Ben Harper:

Another Lonely Day<--depressing yes, but I connect with the song and it has a nice sound to it
Beloved One
Ashes
Waiting on an Angel
Welcome To The Curel World
Walk Away
Sexual Healing

I enjoy listening to Silverchair's "Neon Ballroom" cd. Especially the song "Emotion Sickness", brilliant I tell you.
