Songs that mention other bands ...

deftron

Lifer
What songs do you know of that mention other bands, actually refering to them,
not just saying the word(s) that happen to be their name. (Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone" wouldn't count)

Off the top of my head,

Bad Company - "Shooting Star" (Beatles)

The Who - "You Better You Bet" (T. Rex)

And not really a band but,

Lyrnyrd Skynyrd - "Sweet Home Alabama" (Neil Young)

Pink mentions 'Damn Britney Spears'

Cake mentions Frank Sinatra

I think Eminem mentions Britney Spears too..

eminem... he usually bitch about somebody.
Rap shouldn't count. They're always talking about other rappers.
Their entire industry consists of either one-upping or dissing somebody or a group of people. All of their "music" is like that.

"American Pie" by Don McLean - Supposedly about a bunch of musicians according to McLean. But most notably about the death of Buddy Holly and company.

Weezer - In my Garage mentions KISS. In fact it even mentions Ace Frehley and Peter Criss by name.

Cheap Trick - Surrender also mentions KISS.

Thought of another one that wasn't on Parrotheads lists, Garden Party by Ricky Nelson mentions Yoko and Bob Dylan

and since I have Yoko on the brain (pity me) she also crops up in Roger Waters Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.

Less Than Jake mentions DIDJIT.

Sublime mentions Bob Marly, Ad Rock and The Ziggens.

Don Henley mentions the Greatful Dead in Boys of Summer.
