Songbird

I don't see the point. Does anybody actually go around the web to random blogs and download music?

Oh, and wrong forum.

Trust me many MANY people do. I have a friend that exclusively uses myspace to listen to music...

It looks nice...definitely taken from the Itunes interface...we'll see how nice it is, and potentially how SLOW it is. Like Banshee Media player, but it simply is way to slow once you load a lot of music.

I suppose what I really like about it, is that it's cross platform. I like Totem or Rhythm box on linux, but about the only choice for a decent player on Windows is WMP (I don't like iTunes, and RealOne has been to buggy and slow for me, man I loved RealJukebox though).

What downloading music, and mp3s off the web?

Oh boy I wonder when the RIAA is going to jump in here and start yelling, LOL 😉

ALOHA

Actually I would like this simply because I now want to turn my music collection online so that I can listen to it whereever I am. I just need to figure out how to do something like shoutcast, or a server, or run it off my pc, or run it off my website...and something like this is easy because i can just upload the files and then it will play it as if it is streaming...lets hope a lot of development comes along and it displaces what exists because it does have a nice interface. I use Rythembox soley because its very fast - otherwise I like Banshee more

I like this sort of thing. I haven't checked out songbird yet, but I will.

I like it because this way I get to check out different music and hopefully find new stuff. If I find a site or whatnot that has songs I already like then I bet I'd be able to find new bands or music that I'd like but never heard of before. It'll be a nice replacement for music radio, which I don't listen to anymore since 95% of the bands are now whiny psuedo-fembot rich kids from california moaning on and on about how life sucks and their girlfriends should kill them. Damn corporate rock music.

Another application that may be of interest is another geurrila-style media application called 'democracyplayer'. Online television based around rss feeds and such.
http://www.getdemocracy.com/

It's cross-platform python based application. A bit slow and bit buggy, but it does it's job.
