It doesn't sound terribly familiar. I can't place it with any of the typical movie composers. It's driving me nuts though with all of the skipping.

edit: I just caught a patch that sounds like Gershwin. Is it possible it's from Mr. Holland's Opus? I haven't seen that movie in a while so I don't remember what the soundtrack was like.

I know what you mean, Initially it sounds like like Michael Nyman. THen ther is that sappy moment where it sounds like Danny Elfman, or any other film with an overly emotional score.

wife says she's seen the movie... can't picture it. She recognized it around the 6 minute mark.. (at 5:55 into the song) It's the theme to whatever movie it was in, says her. (as if that narrows it down at all) Meet Joe Black maybe?

Gershwin starts at six minutes in. Everyone knows this song as it was featured on many United commercials. My guess is that's what she's remembering.

It's NOT gershwin.....let me tell you that outright. Gershwin would roll over at this sappy stuff. 😀 Perhaps it sounds like his stuff a LITTLE, but the trademark syncopatic style is not there. Gershwin's style is ALWAYS there...unless it's not Gershwin😀

I'm not saying this is Gershwin, I'm saying that at about six minutes in they copy directly from Rhapsody in Blue. Probably his most recognizable work since United made it famous. I think it's actually pretty cheesy that they included it unless they were trying to pay tribute to him somehow.

That's Gabriel Yared from the City of Angels Soundtrack. He composed four tracks on this CD, not sure which one it is though.
