I built a computer for a friend and now (5 months later) the power button doesn't power on the computer on the first push. It takes 2 pushes. (I have not been there physically because I assume she knows what she's talking about since she works in a computer lab at her college.)

use a jumper to turn the pc on at the motherboard, see if it really is the switch. if it turns on that way on the first try and doesn't with the switch, then it's a failing switch or a piece of broken plastic behind the button or something like that. otherwise it could be a faulty component (psu perhaps?).

not even a jumper, a quick touch with a screwdriver is a better bet, thats how I test mine anyways, cant imagine how you're going to pull it off with a jumper.

pop it on and off. i don't like sticking screwdrivers in there, don't wanna bridge the wrong thing!
