Im using a Sonata II right now, and I have a few thoughts.

Was cable management a problem in this case for you guys as well? I just ordered some cable sleaving to start me off, gotta figure out where im gonna hides these wires.

I personally have 2 optical drives, 2 hard drives[one SATA & one IDE] and one floppy -also 2 120mm fans (in front and back) with one 90mm fan by the Vid card sucking into the duct.

Also, what do you guys think about taking the plastic garbage out of there and taping some holes on the side of the door for door-mounted fans?

Anyone ever try anything like this? Is it a bad idea to ditch the air ducts in there?

The CPU fan on retail AMD chips blow onto the heatsink right?
If you put a fan in the air duct right above the heatsink, is it suppost to blow or suck (hehe, puns everywhere!)
Right now I only have on fan on the bottom of the duct (by the vid card) sucking into the duct. (in addition to the 120mm that comes with it and the another one in the front next to the harddrives)
 
Yes I have a sonata II case. (and a Sonata I case) The first thing I did was garbage the shroud; and used duct tape to cover the rectangular patch of air holes on the rear of the case. I was using water cooling so didn't need it anyway. Most complaints I've read about the shroud being; It isn't adjustable enough to cover the CPU on some mobo's and definitely doesn't allow for large heatsink fan combo's such as Zalman 7700 or 9500 and TT jungle 512. If I knew how to post pic's in this forum, I could show you how I routed wiring so that most, if not all, is unseen. I've seen HDD installations that have the cabling visible ( connection side out). I put mine in the other way and all the connextions are to the inside. With standard wide IDE cables it may not be possible to do it that way. With Sata cables and Round IDE Cables you can hide them to the inside. The front panel cables: USB; 1394 and Audio; LED; Power and Reset; are easily hidden behind the HDD enclosure and out along the bottom. My ASUS mobo's have most of those pinouts along the lower third of the mobo. I did add another 120mm fan to the front mount. ( Glacial Tech 1000rpm 19db) pulls enough air to cool the HDD's.

Yea it was a problem as I never bothered with cable management lol.. I just tie all my cables up and hope for the best

I think the airduct is only useful if you install the two fans inside there, if not it'll only be blocking the 120mm fan at the back... Also the airduct isn't really compatible with 939 mobos, as I can see on mine, it only covers like half the HSF. You can't actually use it with any other heatsink other than the stock one anyways(XP-90C in my case)

I have a Sonata1 and a Sonata2. Yes the ducting seems pointless. I purcased the 2 recently for my wife's new machine because it was nice looking and reasonably small. If the case is quiet you would never know it due to all of the other fan noise. It a bit tight inside and I would recommend the 160 or 180 for a hobby or gaming box.

The duct is supposed to bring air IN to the CPU thats Fan (for the large majority) blows into the HS... If you rig the duct as an exhaust, it will be scavenging air FROM the CPU Fan so the temp of the CPU may actually RISE. I would replace the type of passive duct that just delivers air in the general direction of the CPU with a flexible one that actually mounts to the top of the CPU fan (computergate.com has a very inexpensive one - SVC/jab-tech and others carry the Sunbeam type kit which costs more than 2X as much but you may need some of the extra stuff depending on where you place the intake) along with an intake fan at the outside to overcome the air drag of the duct.

. But most won't need a duct at all - just remove it and block its vent with something. It wouldn't be there anyway if some P4s didn't run so danged hot.

mmm yes. anyway, i dont have a fan blowing into the CPU, only the one by the vid card (sucking air into the duct). I'll switch that guy around. Later I want to put some holes in the side of my case for a fan and get a more standard setup rather than use that air duct.
 
In my Sonata I & II cases, the extra power wiring has been folded and stuffed into the middle 5.25 bay and the Floppy and CD-DVD RW Round cables are tucked into the lower 3.5 bay. I use a 10" round floppy cable and a round 18" single IDE cable. The SATA HDD cable is routed behind the drive bays. The connections on the HDD are to the inside of the case out of sight. If you use more than 2 HDD's; this will be a tight fit.

yeah actually i just finished sleeving last night and this is where I stuck everything. Ill get pics up soon.
I didnt ditch the fan in the air duct since I have it, but that duct blocks the rear 120mm fan pretty good 🙁

whats the deal antec!?
