Sonata II vs SLK3000 + Seasonic S12 430W

First time building my own computer. Not sure between these two case/PSU setups. The SLK3000 + Seasonic option is about $50 more, but I don't mind spending extra if the case and PSU are quieter. Which has better cooling options? Finally, any other suggestions besides the Seasonic model?

I've getting this setup so far:
-Athlon 64 3000+ Venice
-MSI K8N Neo4 SLI
- Some dual DVI video card to run 2 LCDs.

Where are you buying these things? The SLK3000 (at amazon) + Seasonic (similar price most places) is less than $30 more than the Sonata II (at ewiz). That being said, I'd probably go with the Sonata II. The SLK3000 is a good cheaper case, but not a terribly high quality one. Also, the PSU in the Sonata (SP 2.0) is a pretty good PSU that will probably handle your system just fine. Eventually you'll probably want to upgrade either PSU, however.

Sorry, the prices I got were from newegg. So, the Sonata II is a better quality case (excluding the PSU) ? If I want to upgrade to a better PSU anyways, do you think the that P180 is worth the extra $40 or so? Or is that overkill for my system.

The Sonata is definitely a better quality case compared to the SLK3000B. Personally, I really like the P180 and will probably use it in my next build. I doubt it would be much cooler or much quieter than the Sonata, so if you think the cosmetic gain is worth it, then go for it.

SLK3000B is a very solid case...no worse than the Sonata. It is also a very QUIET case. Quick release construction throughout. Slap in two 120 mm x 38 mm medium speed Panaflo case fans and control them with two Zalman Fanmate 2.

The rear duct on the Sonata II stinks!!!

I'm fairly satisfied with my SLK3000-B. On the quietness aspect, it has the side-panel "snorkel" that could let noise out if your CPU fan is noisy. Its three-speed Antec fan is respectably quiet on Low. I can barely hear my SCSI-equipped work rig at idle in my office, and it sits close enough that I can touch it with my elbow, so... not bad 😎

P180 does look hot, though :Q
