Sonata II HSF options?

Which after market HSFs will fit in this case? I'm in the process of upgrading and have decided on the E6600 for the CPU. I don't plan on overclocking much but I'm not sure how well the stock Intel fans do temp wise. The CPU duct can go and I'd like a quiet system but if the temps are noticeably lower I can sacrifice noise as long as it's not loud like the Delta 120mm fan I had in my old case.

For reference I'm planning on:

E6600
Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus
2GB DDR800
EVGA 8800GTS 640MB(have)
Sonata II(have)
Ultra 500w PSU(have)

If anyone has any recommendations for temp improvements for this set-up, feel free to share.

Sonata II owners please let me know what's doable.

If overclocking is not as priority the stock Intel HSF is actually quite good. Use the Asus BIOS feature to control it based on temp. Set the rear case fan on low. Install an optional front 120mm fan and either undervolt it of pick a slow/quiet one.

Forget the ducting.

This setup will be very quiet and will still allow you to do some modest overclocking.

If you want to be more aggressive with overclocking you'll likely have to increase Vcore and that's what heats things up rapidly. I have a Scythe Infinity in my Sonata II and it works quite well. Even with a 1.45 Vcore, my CPU stays <40 degrees all the time.

I'd like to try the new Ultra 120 Extreme with Shin Etsu heatsink compound. I think that would be the ultimate in air cooling while overclocking at elevated Vcore levels.

Good to hear. As I said I don't plan on overclocking much, if at all.

About undervolting. Is the only reason to do it for extra silence in the fan? I was going to buy a Yate Loon for the front but what impact would it have on CFM and temps overall? Would it be better to undervolt a more powerful fan?

I finally put my 8800GTS in and damn it's loud. Just thought I'd share that 🙂
