Alright thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

I just downloaded songs by Helloween, Dragonforce, and Apocolyptica.

From just the first 10 minutes of sampling I can say that Helloween isn't my type... but who knows they may grow on me. I think it's the lead singers voice. Dragonforce on the otherhand, WOW that may open up a new door. I've only listened to Apoc's cover symphonic songs like "One", "Legend of Zelda theme", and "Smells like Teen Spirit" and I'm lovin it. I'll make it to their original stuff in a bit.

Again thanks guys!
Old or new Helloween? They had a vocalist change in ~1994.
Gamma Ray are also similar to Helloween, but with a different vocalist.
Manowar are also awesome, but slightly different.
Pink Cream 69 are quite rocky rather than metal-ish.
Dreamtide are kind of paid back stuff, not really sure if it is still rock.

Allen/Lande - The Battle is an incredibly good album featuring the vocalists of Masterplan (Jorn Lande) and Symphony X (Russell Allen).

Nocturnal Rites have some nice songs - Avalon is a stand out for me.
Stormwarrior also have a few nice songs, Axenstar too.

here are screenshots of my power metal and prog rock band folders. many of them have several cds in subfolders, but those are the actual bands. I might have a few others in another folder that I haven't edited yet.

Power Metal
Prog. Rock

i did it this way since i had so many and thought it would be the easiest way.

I'm always looking for more music too.
