I just ran speed disk on W2K and now the HDD light is on all the time even though it's not spinning.
I ran W2K's defrag hoping it would fix it, but the hdd light is still on.
any ideas what's going on here?

Have you tried rebooting your machine (yes, I know that is a silly question)? I run Norton Speed Disk 5.1 and I do not experience the problem you are having. Have you ran Liveupdate recently?

Yeah, I rebooted and all. I think speed disk messed up my master boot record. I have a win98/W2K dual boot btw
Also, the hdd light stays on when the computer is booting...even through the 'choose your OS' menu.

How od you think SD messed up your MBR? Do you get an error message about booting into Windows 2000 or what? You still need to provide more info, like what Service Pack do you have installed, do you have a VIA chipset and what version of those drivers do you have installed?

Okay, I solved the problem...I guess the hdd light stays on in W2K due to my CDR/RW's particular settings (primary/secondary, master/slave). I guess after running speed disk this *feature* *magically* kicked into gear. It's all good now after trying every single combination for 2CDROMS and 2 HDs.
