On chipsets and on processors. I put this in the iwanna thread but never caught an answer. Thanks

This would be more appropriate in our CPU forum.

Trying to guess price drops are pointless, it's anybodys guess. And this shouldn't be posted here anyway.

Well, it IS offtopic, but still a good question. No one can say for sure, but the smart money is betting that we will see a nice cut about a week before they release Prescott, and te prices will definetly drop a ot after the Prescott Release. Prescott is scheduled for release during Q4 2003, when exactly, no one is sure.

Intel announcements typically surround the dates of a competitors announcements.
So go to the Register and do a search for release dates of AMD products
then you will know the price cut dates and new product dates and all the other FUD they can spew.

Confirmed end of October from Intel to myself as I am a dealer.

And Intel is currently kicking the snot out of AMD. Not to say that could not change shortly but I doubt it. I was exclusively selling AMD till about 6 months ago, when I saw the light and actually started using Intel 800FSB processors and overclocking them safely to 40% above there rated levels. Even at stock speeds they kill AMD processors.

To those who live to gripe: Yes, I knew when I wrote it I was Off Topic. Hence the "heads up" I gave in the thread's title. Many here owe you a debt of gratitude for your ability to disregard a thread's header, click anyway, and display your mastery of the obvious.

To those who actually provided useful info: Thank you for the info and providing me the necessary tools (like the suggestion to visit the register) that will allow me to avoid similar off topic posts in the future.

PLEASE allow me to show you *MY* "mastery of the obvious" -and- "actually provide useful info":
The *OBVIOUS* answer is ALWAYS:
Intel's next planned price drop is:
Right *AFTER* you buy your next MAJOR Intel purchase ;)
