Something was screwed up for my wife's radio. So, I decided to see if the problem was a fuse (fuses are located in a grand caravan under the hood.)
So, I took the cover off the fuse box and started looking at the fuses. Nope, can't figure out the problem. Somehow, I got distracted, and when I went back to the van, I simply shut the hood (forgetting to secure the cover above the fusebox.
Well, 1 inch of slushy snow and a sudden stop later, and the slush building up on the top of the windshield slid down under the hood, splashing into that fuse box. Ooops.
This is where the fun begins.
To turn on the fan onto defrost, I have to shift the car into reverse (it doesn't matter if I actually move in reverse or not.)
If I turn the wipers on, the fan turns back off.
And, this morning in the school parking lot, a new one started: If I turn off the car and open a door, the horn starts blaring. If I shut the door, the horn stays on. The only way to keep the horn from blowing would be to roll down the window, turn the car off, and climb out the window. (Or, simply pull the fuse relay out, as I did.)
But, I'm pretty amazed at how integrated these components are. I did at least 5 or 6 trials with the defrost/wiper/reverse combination. 100% of the time, the wipers kill the blower motor. 100% of the time, putting the car in reverse "reset" everything so that the blower would work until I turned the wipers back on.
