Having the X1900GT positioned as ATI's new midrange card, I'd say this is just an answer to nVidia naming their lower end parts as XT. Otherwise, what happened to the XL monkier? Also, why does every card have to have a suffix? Whatever happened to the vanilla X800 or 6800?
So, currently.
ATI = XTX > XT > GT > GTO?
nVidia = GTX > GT > XT
I think this is a code, which means the X1900GT will be unlockable to 16pipes, thereby making it competitive with a nVidia GTX. Perhaps ATI will release another part with 16pipes and 32 pixel shaders and call it the GTXT. Whatcha think?
