So this older lady comes into the shop about some PC problems and asks when we can have her PC up and running smoothly again. I give her an estimate of 1-2 days because we are slightly backed up. Immediately I get "old lady" attitude....

"Well, I need this done right away, I don't have time to wait"

I explain to her that I understand, but we have other customers ahead of her and thats how service and repair works. She continues...

"I think you need to implement a new policy that caters to emergency situations"

I then proceed to explain that perhaps "The Geek Squad" would be her best bet in this situation and offer to put her on our business phone directly. As she exits...

"I am calling the BBB as soon as I get home and explain that your company is unwilling to help the elderly"

Yeah, from my time in retail, I can say with 100% confidence that old women are the WORST customers.

20-30yo males are the best.

I'm with you. Managing to eat, breathe, and clothe yourself for 70+ years is not sufficient to command my unquestioning respect.

Should have asked her why it was such an emergency. I mean, come on. What the hell does some 80 yo woman need a computer for anyway?

Be sure to mention that you do not take meatballs, sugar cookies, or any other baked goods as a form of payment.

Right on. Why offer senior citizen discounts anyway? Fixed imcome? Woopity fvkcing doo. Probably still make more than me. I think you should offer proof that society benefited from your existance before you can get your senior discount.

My aunt had to ask her father (my grandfather) to find a new dentist after he'd been seeing hers for some time. My grandfather was insisting that they give him a discount because they weren't filing insurance claims for him, then waiting for payment. He was paying cash up front, and thought that should get him a better rate than for people who make paperwork for the office staff. Apparently, he was quite insistent. I'm glad I wasn't there...

I think your store should implement a new policy. What I do for my store...is if they want to be put ahead of everyone else - they pay for it. I charge 1.5 times as much as normal rates, put them at the front - and then they also usually end up paying an additional hours worth of labor than if they just would have let it sit there for a couple days.

no ... you have your title wrong ... it should be

ALWAYS older people are the worst

I used to work at a grocery store ... worked there since I was 14 until I was 22, and the old people who come in there were some of the rudest people I have ever met in my life. i have so many stories about that place I could go on for days.

i honestly sometimes felt like i wished some of those people would keel over and die and never come back, because they are just so negative and have the worst, rudest attitudes i have seen in people.

but don't get me wrong, there were some VERY sweet older people as well.

i have experienced that. my dads side of the family come from the woods of southern arkansas and when i was a kid we would go and visit and i would hear somthing like that shoot from the mouths of the old folk, you know the poeple born before 1900. It always made me pause and think on how they lived and looked at things.
